About

Happy Lappy is the brainchild of Ella Hutchings, a freelance graphic designer, web developer, marathon runner, yoga instructor and all round over achiever now based in Taupō, New Zealand.

Ella handed over the Happy Lappy reins over to Sophie Dowse in August 2021 as she invested her time into another amazing venture, Made.

Sophie is a eCommerce nerd, flower farming obsessed human who knows a good product when she sees it.

Happy Lappy Founder

Ella has spent the majority or her working days at shared spaces and, after experiencing back and wrist pain, saw an opportunity to create a piece of office equipment that was portable, made from sustainable materials and enhanced the ergonomics of the desk.

Both Ella and Sophie are passionate about the design process, and once the stands arrive freshly cut from Auckland, they are then hand sanded and branded, before being popped in a cardboard mailer ready to be shipped to their new home.

Happy Lappy has been built as a for purpose business from the get go. We're currently partnered with EdenProjects.org and help local communities restore forests around the world.

WORKPLACE POSTURE – WHAT’S THE PROBLEM?

It’s no secret that workers who spend their day sitting at a desk working or standing for long periods of time are prone to strains and other injuries.

The Happy Lappy is the perfect piece of equipment to help keep integrity in your posture and to mitigate the risks of strains and injuries that come from long hours behind a computer.

WHAT IF I WORK WITH MORE THAN ONE SCREEN?

The Happy Lappy is the perfect height to prop your computer so it’s level with your second screen.

How do I use it?

The optimum set up is to pair your Happy Lappy with a separate key board and mouse or wacom. This way, the wrists stay flat and there is less temptation to sit forward, putting stress on the spine and neck.

Then when you’re done for the day, simply pull apart the two pieces, pack your bags and you’re ready to go.

Please get in touch if you have any questions about your desk set up.
